Press Release on Endorsement of Judge Briana Zamora

NM Hispanic Bar Association Endorses
Judge Briana Zamora for District Court Judge

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – On May 17, 2012, the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association officially voted to endorse Judge Briana Zamora for the position of Bernalillo County District Court Judge.

A Native New Mexican, Judge Briana Zamora currently presides as a Metropolitan Court Judge in the criminal division and announced her intentions to run for the District Court Bench earlier this year. Judge Zamora’s judicial experience includes presiding over 20,000 cases and working on specialty court programs such as Homeless Court and Courts to School.

Upon learning of the endorsement, Judge Briana Zamora said, “I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association, a well-respected legal organization truly committed to serving the New Mexico community.  Judge Zamora added, “I intend to represent Bernalillo County on the District Court Bench with honesty and integrity. I believe my proven track record on the bench will assure New Mexicans of my qualifications for this high honor.”

The NM Hispanic Bar Association’s endorsement of Judge Zamora was one of just seven given this year to-date.  “Judge Zamora was a logical choice for one of our limited endorsements, given her long-standing commitment to improving the lives of Bernalillo County residents,” NMHBA President Rebecca Avitia said of the endorsement.  “Judge Zamora’s commitment has been exemplified in her work as a Metropolitan Court Judge, where she has treated victims and defendants from Bernalillo County in a fair and professional manner, and we believe will continue through her service at the District Court.”  More information on Judge Zamora, including her extensive qualifications, can be found at www.electjudgezamora.com.

The NM Hispanic Bar Association is the state-wide association for Hispanic attorneys, and is currently composed of approximately 300 members.  The Association’s mission is to promote the education and development of Hispanic legal professionals, and it currently works to fulfill this mission through judicial endorsements, community mentorship programs, and continuing legal education programs.
